Nike is brand of apparel and sports equipment that operates in North America, Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Greater China, Japan and other emerging markets. The company was founded by William Jay Bowerman and Philip H. Knight in 1964 and was officially incorporated on September 8, 1969. (Reuters, 2016) On May 31, 2016, the company narrowed products into nine separate categories: Running, NIKE Basketball, the Jordan Brand, Football (Soccer), Men’s training, Women’s training, Action sports, Sportswear and Golf. In addition Nike sells equipment and accessories for a wide range of sports, these products include golf clubs, protective equipment, gloves, bats, helmets, socks, bags, eyewear and watches and other digital devices. Nike also owns Hurley, a brand of skate shoes, apparel and accessories and Converse, a brand casual and athletic shoes, apparel and accessories. Nike is the Textile – Apparel Footwear Accessories industry, selling products made for athletic use. In 2015 total revenues for the fiscal year were $30.6 Billion, an increase of 10 percent from the previous year. Nike is the biggest company in the industry, Adidas brought in $17 Billion in revenue, Under Armour brought $3.96 billion.
